Integrated patent information consulting projects and promising patent excavating support

1) Overview : As government's support increased to create foundation for source patent development by enhancing the research productivity of universities and public research institutions that are the key point of innovation, the KIPO has been supporting all stage strategy planning, including steps such as selecting a promising technology, analysing the patent, set up strategy, reinforce the patent, patent valuation, marketing through  "promising patent discovery and commercialization support project"

2) Project Participation: We are actively participating in government and KIPO projects such as 2006~2007 KAIST, 2008 ETRI, 2009 KAIST technology consulting project and Daejeon SME support center's promising technology development project.

We have been providing lectures of our professional Patent Attorneys to businessmen, invention association members and ect.. in order to devote to companies and enhance international competitiveness.

To improve inventor teachers professionalism and to expand training opportunity we expanded inventor teachers workshops and supported KASI.

3) SME IP management consulting

a. Overview
As the need for IP management consulting for SME is needed to secure good patents and prepare for IP dispute, KIPO has established small business patent management support group with technology inspectors in Sep 06 to provide patent consulting and expanded to industrial property management support group in Dec 07 in order to provide trademark/ design consulting

b. Progress
- KIPO's IP management staff and local IP center's consultants choose innovative company and make a visit to see if it is possible to set up a IP team in the SME and also do a prior analysis for the operation status of the company and after that KIPO offers in-depth consulting based on the result of the analysis and the need from the company.

- Provided consulting by consulting specialists as well as other IP Specialists such as public Patent Attorneys, lawyers.
